Total money lost $1,880

Type of a scam Government Grant

My elderly father was targeted by one or more scammers via Facebook, claiming that he had been selected for a grant from Lion’s Club. He was told that in order to claim his package (initially valued at $100,000, which grew over time to $300,000, including a house and a trip to the Bahamas), he needed to buy iTunes gift cards to off-set some of the administrative fees, scratch off the codes, and send pictures of these codes. Prompted by the scammer, who said her name was Demetric Johnson, he did so over the period of over a month, buying multiple cards. The scammer set up a Google Hangout under the name Sure Clint, and that is how my father was instructed to send the pictures. He is on a fixed income and nearly lost his housing because he gave away all his income to her. To this day, my father is still being badgered by this person or group and wants to give even more money in order to claim his package. He has not listened when I tell him it is a scam, so I have taken on a larger role now in the management of his finances.

Type of a scam Government Grant

I was sent a messenger notice about applying for a grant with lions club. I asked numerous personal questions back to confirm it was my friend and all the personal work questions were answered so I texted the number and was told to contact back when at a computer. I found it too good to be true so I looked him up and found he had just posted a note about being hacked with a lions club scam..only had the phone number so i hope it helps
