Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

My husband was online and applied for one of these advance fee loans through 24hourlending.com and was linked to LightStream for this loan. He was contacted by an individual named Steve Smith who stated that several deposits would be made into his personal checking account and asked for his banking login information. My husband was then told to go to Walmart and purchase 4 gift cards in the amount of $500.00 each, with said monies that had been deposited into his account. My husband was then instructed to provide Mr. Smith with the gift card numbers for verification of some sort. This all resulted in approximately $2500.00 being unlawfully taken from our joint checking account, as the information for this account was never disclosed. The bank is not assisting us whatsoever, due to the transactions appearing as though my husband simply transferred the funds and used them for the gift cards.
