Type of a scam Phishing
I received a call from alt Mike Davenport at Forsyth County Sherriff’s Dept with a warrant citation for Failure to Appear for Jury Duty and Contempt of Court. He said I could come and be booked OR pay a fine. Then proceeded a long explanation about the various large fines that needed money orders. I was to meet him outside the courthouse even though it was nearing 5:00 pm closing. I made home review all his stated facts which revealed errors…dates, address etc. when he stated the name of the court I failed to show up at I told him I was a personal friend of that judge (true fact) and he very quickly wanted to get off the phone (it had been at least 15 minutes). He made the same call to my partner/different address and proceeded with the same story. He called the judge office to hear that many people have been scammed. We called the police and the sheriff but no one seemed remotely interested as this scam was quite common. However I would like to add that many people would fall for it based on he confusion of his fast speech.
