I answered an ad online thru my email about a mystery shopping job with Kroger. A few weeks later, a letter came to me with a check inside for almost $4,000. It said I was to do 2 surveys, the first was to take the check and cash it, take out $300 for my pay, an extra $100 to spend on anything I wanted at either Kroger or Walmart. Then I was to answer some questions about my experience of shopping and then take the remaining money and go to 1 of 5 local banks and make a cash deposit. Then let them know which bank I used so another mystery shopper could go there and take the money out. Then let them know that I had done that and how much I had deposited in the bank account. The reason i knew this was a scam was the fact that no one is going to pay that much for a simple survey. I did contact the company that the check had come from and it was a legit company who said someone else had called them last week and said the same thing. I did not cash the check and the company knows it is going on. The scammer sent me a text message asking me to confirm that I had received the check but I did not answer him. I hope this helps others.
