Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
My boyfriend bought a plane ticket from MCO to TLV in July, and canceled the ticket 3 hours later. For family reasons, he could not fly, and attempted to get a refund. We have been attempting to get a refund since July. Today, I called the website number (for the millionth time), and was immediately connected to a man who introduced himself as "Jason Tyler", a representative of the airline. I was initially suspicious because he did not state the name of the airline, however after a few minutes I was very excited to hear that he would reimburse us if we completed a "physical verification", which we would then receive the refund for the money within minutes. He told us to go to Walmart, and buy a $300 giftcard, to verify the account information, and he would stay on the line. In my excitement (and naivety), I drove there, where I was stopped by the cashier, telling me she wouldn’t issue us the giftcard for that amount, because it seemed suspicious. She gave me the number of the non-emergency help line, and I spoke with a deputy, who told me it is ultimately my loss if I take the chance. Realizing that my initial suspicions were most likely correct-especially because Walmart employees had no idea of any promotion such as the one this man was insisting, I told him I had caught on to the scam, and hung up.
I have multiple recordings of ALL interactions with this company, whether today was a scam or not, they have HORRIBLE reviews online, yet are still a working company, obviously stealing people’s money, and REFUSING to give refunds.. despite the law insisting that if someone cancels a ticket within 24 hrs, they have an opportunity to receive a refund.
Please investigate this company, as well as their practices. They seem to be working under many pretenses, and seem to be proper thieves.
I have pictures and recordings as well, and will provide if contacted.
