Type of a scam Tax Collection
A man called my step mother, "Mrs. Bla***" saying that he had important tax information he needed to speak with her about that she needed to verify her DOB. He said that she was being investigated for tax fraud and tax evasion. So then she asked what name. He says Jana Bla***. Which was my mothers name; she passed away 16 years ago. Then she said who, he says "Jenny?" Her name is Jane. So she advised she has hers prepared. I called the number on my cell phone and it showed that it was a California cell number, 442-456-3443. I posed that I had been called earlier that day, he asked for my phone number to identify myself. He said, "is this Tina?" So from that point I had to ask, "So exactly how many people have you called to scam today?" He says, "Only you" and hung up. I wanted to provide everything to you. Also I asked for his name and he said that he worked for the IRS and that he is officer Kevin Smith.
The last name is the same as my last name is that information is necessary.
