Total money lost $700
Type of a scam Online Purchase
Shih Tzu puppies for adoption with a $700 "rehoming" fee. Payment types accepted on their website are Cash App, Google Pay, and Walmart gift cards. The same pups were advertised in a local paper web listing and online at their own site – Josepuppies.com. $400 up front, $300 on delivery for each puppy. I wanted two and received a "discount" of $200 for a total of $700 up front and $500 on delivery . I paid the upfront money with Google Pay and discovered the funds wouldn’t be available for pickup for a week and they needed the cash to pay the shipper right away, so could I send them the remaining $500 via a Walmart gift card that I could scratch the back to uncover the numbers and take a photo to send to them. That’s when I started to wise up and found them listed on PetScams.com. When I asked about how pups were going to be shipped they said UPS. UPS does not ship mammals (no dogs, cats, etc.). They gave me a link to the shipper’s website at – upsshippingcompany.com – which uses the same phone and website layout/photos as – universalshippings.com – both are bogus. Too late for me to cancel Google Pay, but at least they didn’t get the whole amount.
