Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I placed an item for sale in an advertising flyer and their online website. I received a text from an interested party to purchase. All contact was via text messaging. We exchanged mailing addresses. She informed me that the amount of the cashier’s check was more than our asking price. We agreed to refund any over payment. Sale price: $2,850 Cashier’s Check received $5,980.33. Upon receipt of Cashier’s Check, I contacted the bank it was drawn on and was informed the check was counterfeit and do not deposit. Her text area code is Tennessee, mailing address Florida, Cashier’s Check drawn on bank in Pennsylvania, and FedEx came from Texas.
