Type of a scam Online Purchase

I paid this company 750 dollars for a blue nose pitbull named Teddy. They even sent a contract through email which also seemed legit since it was the same information as the company website. Once it was time to get the puppy delivered, I was emailed with a tracking number and website of a transportation website for animals. I was also sent a separate email stating that I would need to pay and extra $1200 for transportation insurance which was "refundable". As soon as i contacted the seller regarding what I was being charged, they proceeded to say that its because OF COVID 19. I have tried contacting the company for any update or information, but I am no longer able to contact anyone. I just can’t believe there there are such cruel people out there to take from hard-working people.
