Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
I think this started when I fielded a call from a company asking about our printer supplies. It wasn’t a memorable call, nor did I agree to purchase any products. I did not tell them the make and model of our printer. However, we received an outrageously priced invoice ($1,220.96) with my name as the contact for two toner cartridges (correct make and model) plus premium freight. Our toner is supplied as part of our lease agreement and I am not the person who handles our account.
The invoice looks very convincing, especially when names and model numbers are correct. Luckily, our administrative assistant was suspicious enough to ask questions. I tried calling the number on the invoice and connected to a generic VM message asking me to leave my name, company name and phone number and someone would get back to me within 36 hours. That really got me wondering.
Upon doing an internet search, I learned this is a virtual address, the company does not have a web site and others have received the exact same invoice.

Company sent an invoice for $1220.96 with my actual name as the contact. They have the exact printer we use and billed for "supplies". I would never order that monetary amount of supplies for that printer. SCAM!!
