IRS Tax and Crime Investigations

Victim Location 64131

Type of a scam Tax Collection

I received an automated voice mail on my cell phone, the beginning of it was cut off, and it said that "in the next 24 hours you will be taken under custody by the local police as there are 4 serious allegations pressed on your name at this moment." I called the number, and a man with a thick accent (possibly Indian?) responded to my query by asking when I had received the phone call, and if there was an account number. I gave him my married name and he responded with my maiden name (which I had not given him). He asked for my zip code, at which point I asked him who he was, what company or organization, and he responded that he was with the Tax and Crime Investigations division of the IRS. I asked what the call was about, and he said there were issues with my taxes. No matter what I said, he would not give me more information (I asked for the number on my account, what exactly was wrong with my taxes). He told me there was a problem with my taxes for the years 2017 and 2018, but I did not file taxes under my maiden name those years. When questioned, he became rude and acted like I had deeply offended him. He finally hung up after saying something about how the police would be at my house in the next 5 minutes.
