Type of a scam Tax Collection
Received initial phone call with recorded message to call (518) 2416548 regarding an IRS criminal investigation department about tax fraud. Then when I called it sounded like a noisy call center with many voices. The call dropped once, then I received a call back. Finally I realized this was a scam and said I would report it to the BBB.
The IRS generally mails to citizens, and won’t call this way.
