I got a call from a person saying he was a IRS officer of the IRS and my taxes were wrong and I owed $***. He had a badge number and case number. He told me I could settle this right now so I wouldn’t have to go to court. Then I had to talk to another person named Matia the Investigation Officer. Asked how much could I pay monthly and I said $***. Told me to go to 4950 Almaden Expressway, San Jose, CA and would let me know when I got there what to do and stay on the phone. The only information I told them was my address and how much in my checking and savings. I was skeptical from the very beginning but then he said if I didn’t give information then someone would come to arrest me at my home. Got two phone numbers: 845-450-2969 and 20 3 08460106 which they both left voicemails. I just hung up and called police.

I said that I just received my tax refund last week and that I found it very unlikely that I committed fraud and still got my refund. Also told the guy that I haven’t received anything in the mail. He then threatened to call local authorities to arrest me. I just laughed, told him to go ahead and do it and hung up.

The second phone number is from a lady with a heavy middle eastern accent and gave her name as Officer Sophia Clark. Hi

A voicemail was left for me from someone claiming to be the IRS. I called back and a man with a thick Indian accent answered "internal revenue service" and said his name was Jack Hoffman. I asked why he had called and he said I might have a claim against me with the IRS and asked me to give him personal info. I declined and said if he was the IRS he would have all my info. He then hung up.

I keep getting voice messages from a recording saying they are the IRS. They where calling my cell phone and now they are calling my house landline. The computer voice says it’s Officer Catherine Hills and that it is time sensitive. That if I choose to ignore the message they will take legal action. I pay my taxes never had any problems with the IRS before. Now they say they have been trying to notify you regarding the issue in the previous 6 months but they never got any response from my end. So, it has been considered as an extensional fraud and lawsuit has been filled in my name by the US Government. I heard about scams of this kind, still if have to wonder. So here I am asking #1. Is this a scam? #2. Answer the phone when they call? #3. Can you make them stop? Here are the phone numbers they have used – 415-800-3287, 415-251-7510, 206-231-0023. I am not what kind of scam type to put. I would assume it’s Debt Collections when the letters are IRS. Thank for your time.

Automated call warning me to call the 979 320 6544 or face criminal charges from the IRS. I called back just to see if I’d get a human voice and did. After 30 seconds of me saying nothing they hung up. Then I called back to speak to someone and after answering they hung up on me. When I called again I got the answering machine that said the call has a "follow me" feature and will be rooted to the party. Maybe they wanted to see if I’d respond so they can call me back from somewhere else. Waiting for a call.

Call came in from New York (1 646-205-0541), I let it go to voicemail.

Voicemail text from an automated voice system (not a real person’s voice)

"Hello, we have been trying to reach you.

This all is a final notice from Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service.

The reason for this call is to inform you that IRS is filing a lawsuit against you.

To get more information about your case file, please call us immediately on 640-205-5541. I repeat 646-205-5541

Thank you."

I called the number and the man answering seemed confused and said, "Um, Hello, IRS"

I said, " I am returning your call"

He said, "Oh, you must have a pass code"

I said, "I don’t understand"

He hung up.

I called again, same man answered and said, "Hello, IRS"

I said, "I am returning your call"

He hung up

I called again, same man answered and said, "This is the IRS"

Then he hung up.

I called twice more and there was no answer after multiple rings.

Yesterday, August 21, Monday, my mother called and told me that someone called her from IRS named Jennifer Singer with ID No. 0266641. Claiming her that she owes *** which is not true. In the event, she keeps on asking for her credit card no. to make a payment. Good thing, she didn’t give it to her but in the long run, she keeps on pushing her to make a payment and even threaten her that she’ll get jailed if she will not pay that amount. Eventually, my mom was forced to give her SS No. and home address because of too much pressure from the caller. Now, after that call she was so worried that they might use her SS No. and home address for any bad intentions likes applying for a credit card or loan. Is there a way that you can interfere or decline is someone will use her confidential information anytime soon? Please help her. She’s so helpless. Thank you.

412-566-4057. The message does not identify who they are but that you should call them before they file a legal action. Then when you call back it rings then goes busy. After a few tries I got through. The woman was very professional, spoke excellent English with no accent and said she was an IRS investigative officer, and gave her badge number TP7 7898. I gave her my name and phone number and she would not tell me what the complaint was about. She demanded my address be verified which I gave but she still refused to provide any information and then threatened to call the sheriff and have me hauled iff to jail- that was when I knew it was a scam. I called back to try and get more information and a very polite man answered, saying he was an IRS investigative officer (Kevin Foster but he had a very thick Indian accent but gain spoke excellent English) and listened to my complaint. I told him what happened and he said he would verify and hung up too. This sort of behavior should be stopped not allowed to go unchecked by authorities.
