Type of a scam Tax Collection
at 2:12 pm on Tuesday 7/25/17 I received a phone call from New York 646-448-0358. It was a pre recorded message saying I owed money to the IRS and this was my last opportunity to make good on the debt. I had less than 24 hours to return the call or I would be arrested. I phoned the number back within 3 to 4 minutes and the phone was answered by a real person (scammer) The real IRS has a machine and you go through several prompts to get to anyone, (if you can). He asked my name, I indicated I wouldn’t give it to him, because I was an IRS agent in Idaho and this number I was calling was not an authorized number for use with the IRS. He blatantly said "what are you going to do about it". I hung up the phone. Just to mess with them I phone back, a different man answered "hello", then when I asked who I was calling he said "Dept of Treasury". Blatant thugs.
