Type of a scam Employment

I’ve been applying for a lot of jobs when I received a text from representative with Intuit Inc. They said they pulled me resume from career builder. They did an online interview through Google Hangouts. In desperate need of a job I completed questionair and they sent me an offer letter by email. I thought everything was great until the next day when the Taylor Banks advised that they had mailed me out a check for office supplies. That was first red flag because I know lots of people that work from home and no one said anything about this. Red flag #2 they wanted me to buy a gift card to be used for software ???????????? I played along as I researched the company’s HR number and confirmed they did not have anyone by the name of Taylor Banks as a recruitor, manager or employee with ability to hire anyone.

Type of a scam Employment

I had applied for many jobs from the CareerBuilder Website and received this email for a respectable company. Being desperate to find work i contacted this individual for an interview. I thought it was strange they would only conduct an online interview but i went for it. I had gone through a series of interview questions then was asked for personal information to create my file and send it to the supervisor but the supervisors name was never given and everything was always done via Google Hangouts. They offered me a work from home data entry clerk position with all equipment paid for. What finally triggered in my mind that this was a scam was when the HR manager asked me to go purchase a Apple Itunes Giftcard for company "software installations". I then called the company headquarters and they let me know they did not have any HR managers named Taylor Banks nor did they use CareerBuilder to do their hiring.
