It was an automated voice saying that I hadn’t paid something to the IRS and that they issued a warrant for my arrest. It then told me to call a different number with the area code 815, I didn’t write the number down, unfortunately. It told me to call that number and that an agent was waiting to talk to me.

This call purported to be "Officer James Brown" with/from the "Internal Revenue ServiceS" [Note the use of plural for the word Services, unheard of in my experience. Furthermore, the call utilized a computer-generated voice, another tip-off that this was a scam.

I did not call back on the above toll fee number.

A woman with a strong foreign accent called today and identified herself as Sarah. She was claiming to be calling from the Internal Revenue Service and provided a bogus IRS badge ID number -002572. She stated that an FBI investigation has been filed against me and a warrant was out for my arrest for an undisclosed amount of unpaid debt. When I said I will have to check with my accountant first, they hung up. I know that the IRS doesn’t initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. In addition, IRS does not threaten taxpayers with lawsuits, imprisonment or other enforcement action. Beware of this number and do not give any personal information. The scam artist also had my full name and address on file.

They left a message that if I did not call them back that they would issue a warrant for my arrest. That they were from the Internal Revenue Services. That I was in trouble and that if I did not call them back that they would get the local police department involved for my arrest. That there were several serious charges.

A man has been contacting me stating he was from the IRS and I had a warrant for my arrest because my taxes had been miscalculated and the warrant would be issued in 48 hours and I would have to go to jail for two months. When I question if it was legit he became angry and started threatening me I stated I have right and you can’t speak to me that way. He tried to put me on hold. I hung up. He has been calling and leaving threatening messages on my phone for weeks. I called back today to see if this was valid he verified my information with my phone number.

We received two voicemails today claiming they were from "Internal Revenue Services". Note that it didn’t say The Internal Revenue Service. The syntax was stilted and a little off, somewhat like the Nigerian scam e-mails we often see. The message claimed that it was the final notice that IRS was suing us. Since we have received no contact from the actual IRS, we assume this is a scam. We did not call the number, so we were not at risk, but I’m assuming some people would call the number and then be a potential scam victim. The message did not mention any names, so this may be a computerized dialing program.

Thanks,

Michael Kerins

Callers name was Alex Parker, Id # IRM511, cited Case File # *** (called from phone # 202-864-0140) and stated I had under-reported my income since 2009. I hung up upon hearing this, and did not provide any information. Callers voice was a heavy foreign accent and sounded very unprofessional. There was a lot of office "clatter" in the background.

Received a phone message to immediately call back as I had a law suite actively against me. Called the number back. They asked what phone number the message was left on. I told them. Then proceed to "pull up my file". They knew my address. Stated I had misinformation on tax reports from 2009 to 2014 and that I failed to pay appropriately. I stated I always pay my taxes and that I have an accountant. They told me it was my choice to use a third party to do my taxes and that I would be going to jail not them. He then stated that I could lose my car, be convicted and put into jail if this went to court. If I want to avoid court, I needed to let them know if I was willing to work with them. I stated yes. He proceed to tell me his name Watson and badge number. Told me the call would be taped. Then passed me along to his supervisor. She to stated that I had two choices, be convicted or work with her. I asked her if I had received notice of the concern. She stated that I would not receive anything in the mail that my only option was to work directly with her or else she would pass my case along for conviction. I asked what amount was needed to cover the concern, she stated $7500. I asked what I need to do – were they looking for a credit card. She said no, that she needed me to go to my bank and get "green" cash and transfer the money to an IRS audit account that she would give me. I restated that she expected me to do this with no formal paperwork. She said yes. I told her I would rather go to jail.

I recognized early on that this was a scam, I just wanted to see how far they would go.

Later I recalled the number. They again asked for my phone number that I received the message on, I asked is that how this works that you look up my phone number – at which point the person called me names that I would prefer not to write. Extremely foul language.

This call is from Internal Revenue Services. This message is intended to contact you regarding an enforcement action executed by the U.S. Treasury intending your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate, judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. This is a final attempt to reach you. To resolve this issue immediately and to speak with a federal agent call that number (240) 204-9494. I repeat (240) 204-9494. Thank you.

I was called on 5/11/16 and left a message by a robo-caller. They said they were from the IRS, Internal Revenue Services and that a lawsuit was filed against me. I needed to call them back at the above number to find out more. I did call them back from my work phone. What I heard in the background was the sound of a boiler room operating, many, many voices and noise. The man who answered said, "hello?" I asked him if he was with the IRS. He said, "um, yeah." I then told him I was informed the IRS had a lawsuit against me and what did I need to do to clear this matter up (knowing full well this was a scam – I’ve been audited by the IRS in the past and I KNOW full well they send you many letters and never contact you any other way). He mumbled something like, "there’s nothing, they’ll have to arrest you" then hung up before I could respond. I would find this all laughable IF so many people weren’t being scammed. [censored]. If they would just use half of their energy and resources to do something good, just think how different the world would be.

I filed a complaint with the FCC today. I received two spoofed calls. The pre-recorded message said it was the Internal Revenue Service and they were filing a lawsuit against me. I checked the telephone number online and found out that it is not a valid phone number. The IRS website and CBS news have reported high numbers of IRS scams out there, including spoofing (caller makes it seems the caller is a different business and phone number than the real caller). I could not file a complaint with the IRS because their mailbox was full. By the way, the number was 407-779-0728. If you get a call, be careful not to give out personal information.

On 10/14/15 at 1:04 central time, a recorded message was left on my answering machine. It states that this is "officially a final notice from IRS, Internal Revenue Services. The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 206-900-9172."

The recording is very choppy. It is a female voice, American origin. The caller ID comes up that it originated in Seattle, WA.

There is utterly no reason the IRS would be after me, so I know this is not legit. I have notified my local police department.

I filed a complaint just now, and not 30 seconds after I submitted my complaint, this outfit called again, at 5:47 central time. Same phone number and message, 206-900-9172 to get information about an IRS lawsuit against me.

The only difference is the recorded message was not choppy. It was the same recording with the same voice.

Have received phone messages two mornings in a row (9/16/15 and 9/17/15) stating "Internal Revenue Services – The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 310-362-4433, I repeat 310-362-4433."

I performed an internet search on the phone number above and found that others had also been receiving this same message this past week. Since I have never received anything in the mail from the IRS, I did not return the call and presumed that this message is bogus and phishing for personal information.
