My 91 year old mother was contacted by phone. The IRS scammer told her she owed $10,000 in back taxes. When she told them she had no transportation, they sent a transportation service to her house to pick her up ant take her to the bank. The transportation driver tried to tell her it was a scam, not to do it. When she got to the bank the teller alerted the bank manager. The manger talked to my mom and called the police. The officer talked to my mom, then drove her home.

I received a cell on my cell phone. Caller from Internal Revenue Services. He was hard to understand. All he wanted was some information. He needed to know where I was working. He hung up on me. I called the number back. 318-305-5101. A woman answered. She answered Hello. I said I just received a call from this number. She hung up on me.

Contacted me repeatedly via phone stating they were the IRS and I owed them money. They claimed they were in touch with the local Sheriff Dept and I would be arrested if I didn’t comply. They spoke in broken English and were obviously not the IRS. I wasted a bunch of their time pretending to play along but of course was just trolling them back. They eventually told me a US Marshall would be showing up to arrest me. I guess he got lost, because I never did get arrested..

I received a "recorded" call from a government agency "The IRS" indicating that several accusations of improper tax practices had been made against me, and that I had two (2) hours to call 515-442-4594 (the same number that Caller ID listed for the call) to settle this matter before the IRS sent local law enforcement agents to arrest me for falsification of federal documents. There was no account number or case number given. I immediately called back and reached an operator with an accent answering "IRS, may I help you?" I told him that I was returning their call. He then asked me for the account number. I told him that I did not have one. He then asked for my name and contact information, which I refused to give him. He told me to enjoy jail and hung up.

I am aware that the IRS (and other government agencies) use postal mail to communicate with persons when they have a problem. Also, the fact that the call was generic was a flag as a "real" call would have given me an account number or case number to reference, and would NOT depend on my information.

These scammers claiming to be from the IRS kept calling my 16 year old daughter and leaving threatening messages about her supposed taxes, (she’s never had a job) saying a arrest warrant would be issued if she didn’t contact them and pay her taxes owed. I called them and let them know I knew they were scammers and they better stop calling my child. I knew the IRS doesn’t call people. These people are sick and like praying on people who may not know this information.

I know that the Internal Revenue Service only contacts by mail not by telephone. And also I wouldn’t imagine if they were the real IRS that they would call me names and hang up on me and be completely unprofessional for only asking why they called me in the first place. I have been called several times a day stating that I am a suspect. They won’t tell me what I am a suspect in but expect me to give them my information. Well this time when they called I asked to be put on the do not call list and the guy told me that I was stingy and that in order to do so I needed to pay 100 dollars. My blood of course boiled and I said some things I’m not very fond of myself for saying. But I work my butt off for the money I make for my family and all they want to do is take it from me. Please find them and bust them.

The call I had received from the number listed was an automated call claiming to be from the IRS. The IRS apparently had opened a lawsuit against me for “tax evasion”. When I heard that was about my 2015 income taxes I just hung up because I didn’t have a job in 2015, I was still in high school.

The phone number used by the automated system looked like a legit United States number.

Received a voicemail message on 10/23/18, asking me to return a call at 347/414-9320 because there was a federal warrant out for my arrest, based on criminal tax fraud. I did so and the call went directly to a man who identified himself as William Sanchez. He explained that a random audit showed that I owed the IRS over $6000.00, over the tax years of 2011 through 2017. He gave me several id and case numbers. He warned me that I risked up to 8 months in federal prison if I didn’t pay this amount immediately. The fact that a third person prepared my taxes wouldn’t protect me. I could hire an attorney to fight it, but that would be expensive. In the meantime, my wages could be garnished, a lien placed on my house, my bank accounts frozen, drivers license revoked, passport cancelled and my name publicized in the press.Again and again, he warned me of possible jail time.

Then he connected me with a "supervisor", Daniel Cruz, who repeated the same information.

I have spoken to the IRS in the past. They were always polite and professional and never threatened me, with jail time or anything else. Cruz told me I could resolve the problem immediately if I sent a check today to some address I did not catch. By this time, it was obvious to me that it was a scam. I’m afraid I lost my temper and told him that I knew he was a phony, (I used other words), that if he wanted to contact me again, to do so in writing. Then I hung up.

Crooks are shameless. I could only think of people who became scared, who were easily intimidated and who sent their money to these people. I was so angry. I called AARP, (I am 65), and my congressman, J***. These crooks are probably untraceable but the phone number they gave me is now in some federal database of fraud scams.

I wish I could do more. I appreciate that the BBB takes an interest in fraud incidents and tries to help.

Thank you very much.

I was told by Officer Peter Morris [ext. 303 at (206)923-9544, badge # GS 70059] that the IRS completed an audit of my taxes from 2013-2017 and discovered that I had eight miscalculations totaling in $4,786 of which I owed. (He gave an example of miscalculation: If I owed $1,000 but only paid $500.) He said it meant that I paid it on time but NOT the appropriate amount. I asked why I didn’t get this in writing & he said a yellow sticker was put on my front door in June, 2018 to pick up certified mail from the post office – but that I never picked it up or called; therefore, I was to handle this out of court (and pay the $4,786 within 24 hours) or a police officer would come to my door & escort me to jail for tax fraud under Privacy Act 1974. I told him it sounded like a scam & he got his senior supervisor on the phone to validate his story. Both also said I could not talk to anyone about this for 24 hours until the money owed was paid through an EFTPS (electronic federal tax payment system) voucher, of which I was to acquire at a Seven 11 or Circle K store. I told him I didn’t believe him & he told me to expect a police officer to come to my door to handcuff me by the end of the day. He referenced Tax ID# EST/96129.

I told him I was going to report him as scammer and that I heard about them on the news. He said there was a warrant out for my arrest. I said that he was lying. Call ended. Called me with an automated message to declare the message is from IRS and that it is urgent that I call back at the number because I have been selected by random auditing for tax fraud in the past 5 years. I called back and the agent provided me with an employee id, case # id, with an outstanding amount, and declared the "4 violations" committed. When I questioned the legitimacy of claims and demanded that I receive an official letter to state this, the operator claimed to have already sent letters and this is the final courtesy call. Eventually I was routed to an "Officer" then onto a "Senior Officer" after each of my attempts to question their legitimacy. Each operator had a very noisy background, as if it was a call center. They gave a call back number and I assumed it was a scam. Googled the number and there were a few reports of it being used for scams. I called, and sure enough they pretended to be the IRS. Through choppy English the gentleman claimed to be a government official, and even read off a badge number. I said "So this is the IRS?" to which he replied yes and then I asked why the number comes back as a scam when I search it online. He denied it is a scam and asked if I wanted him to handle my case. At that point I kept saying that I could not understand what he was asking me. After about 4 or 5 times he proceeded to tell me to go home and go [censored] myself. I said "Yep that’s what I thought" and he hung up. While the conversation did not go long enough for them to get any information or money out of me, I’m confident it would have led to it.

Contacted twice by this number regarding past due taxes, stating they would be contacting the local cops to have me taken into custody if I did not call them back. And that this was serious allegation and I should get back with them so they could discuss about this case before taking any legal action against me and that I can reach them at 240-487-9048. All of this was left on my voicemail. When I called them back and told them, I did not owe them any money and why were they calling me, they got irate and started talking really fast. The guy was a foreigner, and I told them not to contact me anymore about this and that I knew from listening to channel 7 news they were fake and that the IRS would not be contacting me to say they were sending the police after me. The guy got even more upset and said we will be there to pick you up.

He says they did notify me and since I did not respond the police tried to serve me and said I basically am evading so if we continue there will be a warrant out for my arrest blah blah blah. This needs to stop! People do not need this fake scare tactic especially right now. I can’t imagine how many sweet little elderly people will be scared to death by this. When I called the number back there was a lot of background noise and I told them I had a missed call about 50 minutes ago. Then I asked if this was the IRS and he said yes. I proceeded to tell him that the IRS doesn’t make calls, they send letters and I knew it was a scam and would be turning them in. Then I hung up. I decided to call again and stay on the line longer and a female answered this time, still a lot of background noise, and asked if I received a missed call or a voicemail and I said both. She then told me they do not make phone calls and tried asking a question but the background noise was so distracting I hung up.

I have a resident at the retirement community I work at who received a phone call from a person stating that they were with the Internal Revenue Service. We’ve told her these kind of phone calls are scams so she did not say anything to them, but she was very worried about some of the other residents here who might be tricked by these people. What seemed most frightening to her was that the person on the line told her very firmly that she needed to call them back and that they were watching her and her house!

I don’t know whether these people would have attempted to take money from my resident since she did not call them back, but since they were calling from the "IRS," I’m guessing they might have if she had taken the bait.

Missed phone call and they left a message telling me they were calling from the IRS. Told me not to ignore the message. I called the number and an Asian man said his name was John and that the IRS was suing me for defrauding the government. He said I failed to have my taxes done in 2011 and the IRS was going to sue me and the amount would be in excess of $35,000.00. He said they would take my home, my car, and any money I have. I told him I’ve been on disability and didn’t have to file taxes. He said that in 2013 that if you made over $500.00 you had to file taxes and didn’t I know that the laws had changed? Then I caught on and asked him his name. He said John Smith. I asked him his badge number, he said 7015. Then I asked him if John Smith was the name his parents had given him and said that the IRS doesnot call people, why was he calling me. The initial message that was left was spoken very slowly and almost sounded like Charlie Brown’s parents voice.

I received a phone call and a voicemail on 8/16/16 from someone claiming to be from the IRS. Said his name was Sergeant Daniel Weber, or Webster, it was not a very clear voicemail. The message said there was a law case against me and that if I did not return his call that he wished me well in the upcoming events that were about to unfold against me. A few minutes later, possibly an hour later, I received another call leaving a voicemail saying the exact words as before so I knew it was a pre-recorded message. After calling the ScamPulse.com I decided to change my voicemail greeting saying that the person claiming to be from the IRS has been reported and to leave me alone. Then in about another hour they called again and this time the voicemail was not a recording but a person that sounded like he was from India. All he said was hello a couple of times and then hung up. I have not received any more calls since.

This number called both my father and I. When you answer, they say nothing. Upon calling back they answer the phone with "internal revenue service, this is ." I then said "yes I recieved a call from this number who are you looking for?" I was then hung up on twice. I called back again and the same gentleman answers the phone, and I repeated myself by asking who they were looking for. They proceeded to ask for my name, which I responded with ‘who are you looking for?’ He then said that I owed the IRS money and that there would be a lawsuit against me if I didn’t pay today. I know for a fact, 100% without a doubt that I do not owe money to the IRS. I just think this number needs to be investigated since they tried to do the exact same thing to my father a few days ago.

I received a message on my voice mail at our home saying that I owed money to the IRS and there was tax evasion and fraud, and me or my attorney should call immediately. The phone # I was to call was 1-201-351-9398. When I returned the call, it was from my office. They obviously check the # I was calling from. So, they asked which # I received the call, which I gave them. She could not tell me how much I owed, but said I would receive something in the mail. I hung up and called the same # back and got a fast busy signal. So, I call from my cell phone, and the same girl, not English, answered. She said could I hold, again. I asked her if she was checking my phone #. She said yes. I said this is a fraud and I don’t owe any money. She hung up. The # she called from was # 011-201-3519.

My daughter received a call on her cell phone from someone saying a lawsuit was filed against her by the IRS. They left a phone number to call them at (916-827-8776). I called this number twice. The first call ended right after I told them I was calling regarding a message left about a lawsuit by the IRS. The second call to the same number lasted longer. The representative asked what I was calling about and asked for my daughter’s name and phone number. I asked the person if they were really from the IRS since I was calling a California number. He said he was a representative for the IRS in Washington. I asked if that was Washington DC or Washington state. He indicated it was Washington state. When I told him my daughter had not lived in Washington state, he hung up on me. I have not tried the number again. We may still have the voice message that was left on her phone.

Had voicemail on answering machine to call ###-###-#### because the IRS had filed a lawsuit against me and my husband due to miscalculations on our taxes. I called and a man with a very definite Hispanic accent called himself Brian S*** with an identification number of HRN961502. He said our case number of CP1928 and it referred to taxes from 2008-2013 with misculations resulting in a $3,986.00 error. Since we had not responded to two certified letters that were mailed in March and just three days ago, the case had been handed over to the Federal Government IRS office in Washington, DC. Short of appearing in person, the only way I could wipe ‘the slate clean’ was by sending payment by end of day. This would also free up the papers so I could find out what we had done wrong in Section 101. He asked if I wanted to do that. I said yes, and he referred me to another man with a Hispanic accent who was the agent that would direct me in making payment. He asked my birthdate, and I stupidly said ***, even as I was telling him I was sure this was a scam call. Since I was having trouble understanding him, I asked If I could talk to someone who had an American accent like me. He said he was connecting me with his supervisor, who also had a Hispanic accent, albeit less of one than the other two. This third ‘representative’ asked if we got a lot of scam calls and I said we got a few. He asked how I knew they were scams, and I said I researched them and found out. I asked how I could make payment and he, in turn, asked if I had a Walmart close by. I questioned why, and he said I would have to send a money order. I told him that was ridiculous, this was a scam, and he hung up on me.

We believe it is nothing more than a fraudulent call and do not return the calls. The calls show up on our caller ID as coming from Chicago IL from phone number 773-312-4065.
