Type of a scam Employment

I first received an email from a "Jeremy Lord" citing himself as the Human Resources Director with Infinite Tech Solutions stating that they had an Administrative/Office Manager position open and would like to schedule a phone interview. After emailing back and showing interest in the phone interview, "Jeremy" called me the following day to explain to me that they were a company based in Alberta, Canada and that they were going to open an office here in Texas within the next month and needed an office manager to obtain office equipment and such for them before opening the office. I interviewed for the position and afterward told I was one of two people who had been contacted for the position and an email would be sent out the following morning informing the candidate they had chosen. I of course received the email the following morning and after accepting the position via email, "Jeremy" called me to inform me that he was sending a $4,000 cashier check via USPS with a tracking number. Also, they were supposed to be sending my official offer letter, however the offer letter would arrive after the cashier check. After this phone call is when I became highly suspicious and started doing research on the company and various employment fraud scams and decided that it was very probable to be one. Afterward, "Jeremy" and I stayed in contact via text as I was "awaiting" to receive the cashiers check to confirm my suspicions. After finally receiving the check, I let "Jeremy" know that I had received it and he promptly called me and told me to deposit into MY personal account and make sure that the teller would have it released by in the morning. I called the issuing bank to check the legitimacy of the check. The lady over the phone confirmed it was fake and even asked me if it was signed by Woodrow Wilson (which it was) and told me that they had been receiving calls about similar checks all week. Thusly I tried to get into contact with Infinite Tech Solutions just in case it was a real company to alert them that someone was trying to use their brand to scam people. Surprisingly "Jeremy" answered the phone to which I promptly told him that I had called the bank and that they confirmed that it was a fake check and therefore I would not be depositing it into my account. He hung up the phone and texted me that "Funny you should call the other number and think negative. I will call and cancel the check myself." I then called local law enforcement to see if there was anything that could be done, which of course there isn’t. So I am writing an account here in hopes that someone else will not be taken by this scam. Good luck and God bless all of us jobseekers out there.
