Type of a scam Employment

On January 14, 2016 I went online indeed.com to apply for a job with United Healthcare in Memphis, TN. On January 18, 2016 at 7:00 AM in the morning I recd a response from Teairsa Dickinson who congratulated me that I got the job and they would send me a check for $2,487 to get the software I needed to get the job;  A man w/a foreign accent called me today from a Florida number & asked if I recd the check; affirmative. The man told me to call the hiring manager (Teairsa) but I was not given a ph no. That was what started making it seem fishy.

I recd it today January 18, 2016 overnighted via FedEx. Teairsa contacted me via email ([email protected]) and I was told to deposit the check in my ckg acct. and wait 24 hrs for the check clear; then scan the deposit slip back to them. The scan was to be sent via email to [email protected] The check was from Capital One Bank; cashier’s check (no address). I spoke to an employee at my bank and was told it was a scam so I didn’t deposit it. The imposter United Healthcare stated they would contact me later to give me more information.
