Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
This is the jist of it. I got a call on my cell from a man calling himself Robert Johnson who said he was working for Cash something (sorry, ive blanked it), a business affilliate of Publishers Clearing House. I had won $950,000 and a new Cadillac. I had won this either by spending $30-$40 or by activating a credit card. How do I feel about winning. I doubt it. He says he is in LaCrosse, WI which is less that 2 hours from my house, correct? I would not confirm or deny. He speaks stangely slow and has poor diction, not exactly an accent, but wondered if English was his second language. Never say/asks my name, calls me maam, but I probably answer phone hello, this is…He was coming to deliver the prize, was I home and ready to receive? Did I want public or private reception? He also mentions being confirmed on ScamPulse.com list. He just had to ask a few questions to complete paperwork before arriving. I could defer any ? that seemed too personnel. Marital status? I defered. Did I own or rent? I defered. Now he lectures in not being able to deliver prize if he can’t complete papers. Am I over 65? I am an adult, thats all you need to know. I point out he seems to be raising his voice a bit. He is frustrated because this is his job, and now days it is so hard to convince people they have won. Then brings up his faith in god. Since I don’t trust him he gives me a number 304 460 1882, for his ceo/super Bob Scott and my package code number. I am to call Bob and confirm, then Bob will contact Robert who will call me back. I hung up and left it. 30 min later I had 2 voice mail a minute apart. First-hello…this is mr. Robert…this is Mr. Johnson hello? Second-my first name in a weedling tone, I know you are there! This time I can here weird animal noises like monkeys or tropical birds in background, he audiblly spits off to side, and his tone is mean.
Creepiest part was the focus on coming to my house, although he never asked for address or money, I felt he was probably phishing for info, but who knows what he would have asked if I’d have cooperated!
