Type of a scam Business Email Compromise
We are a remodeling contractor and about a week ago we received an email from someone that got our information off the BBB website. This email asked if we were still doing kitchen remodeling and that they would provide the designs, layouts and measurements. We responded on they replied to that response letting us know they have added the information to their dropbox account and included a link to that. They had yet to include an address, so we asked where the job was before opening and they never responded. Yesterday we received another request under a different for a kitchen and bath remodel. We responded and in their reply it referenced a dropbox link again. We compared this chain of emails with the previous one and they are almost word for work the same except the project they are asking to be completed. These emails are very well written and not an obvious scam – Initial email went as follows –
