Spanish speaking hispanic male called me stating he was from CenterPoint and that I have two past due bills. He said this was a courtesy call because the service was going to be disconnected in 45′ (as a matter fact, the address he was referring to was a house I moved out of 3 months ago and the last statement was paid and managed directly with Reliant). He gave me another phone number I could call to fix this issue and avoid the disconnection. When I confronted the guy saying this was a scam, he called me names not worth listing here.
I called the other number to follow up on the ‘disconnection’ and the guy (similar Spanish accent) gave me the run around. He kept asking for my last name and the phone number where I received the other call. Even though he had the address for the other house he said he was not able to pull up the account without my last name. I asked him for a 1800 number where I could ‘solve the issue and he ended up hanging the phone.
