I was trying to buy a car on Facebook Marketplace. The "seller" claimed to be selling a car for his relative who could not use Facebook, so we initiated contact via e-mail. Then the seller claimed to be handling the transaction through eBay, and asked us for address and phone number to "initiate the deal through eBay", to which we complied. They then sent a convincing eBay listing that included the information that we had given us, and asked us to pay for the transaction via Visa gift cards. We acquiesced to their request for two rounds, an initial $1200 for the product and then another $1000 for the supposed insurance to cover the transaction.
