I was spammed when opening up Google, it claimed I was chosen to receive 1000 Amazon rewards points, like an [censored] I followed the instructions – giving my email and phone number…thankfully no passwords or cc#’s. I was instantly bombarded with texts and phone calls from businesses like Brad’s Deals and offers to enter into other rewards programs, Insurance sales…the usual. Basically I was catfished. The next day I get a supposed code from some one pretending to be Amazon – I hit reply on that text from my phone and nothing happens. I go on my PC and type in the address that was texted and an all RED screen appears – restricting me from going any further. I got a second text from them a day or two later and that address also failed. I’m guessing they were eventually going to try to get credit card numbers? The phone calls are very hard core, "we have amazing deals" and "you qualify to be entered into…". I may have also given them other information like what I earn and if I own a home…At 63yo remembering 10 minutes ago is a brain teaser. I’m surprised this got past my anti virus (ESET), as soon as I opened the Internet it opened. I now see how the elderly get scammed, I fall for stuff knowing you don’t get nothing for free.
