I rec’d. a text message offering to sell me a 3-yr. contract for identity-theft protection. I agreed to send them $299 via my credit card for such service, but now have doubts as to this company’s validity. They sometimes use the website of identitywatchpro.com and other times identitywatchpros.com. The identitywatchpro.com website was created as currently as 6/4/18. They use 2 addresses: 2755 S. Federal Hwy. #17, Boynton Beach, FL 33435, and a virtual office address of 200 Knuth Rd., Boynton Beach, FL 33435. The wording in the service agreement they emailed to me is not customary. I noticed that there is an odd sentence in Section 18 at the bottom of the form, which is not common language used in a legal document pertaining to governing laws in such documents. Usually, the phrase states "in accordance with the laws of . . (NAME OF THE STATE inserted in which the business legally is incorporated and/or headquartered). In the case of this document, however, it states "in accordance with the laws of 200 Knuth Rd., Boynton Beach, FL, 33426, United States." The inclusion of "United States" is also seldom used in U.S. legal documents, but is frequently used in documents used by scammers based in foreign countries. I will file a formal complaint with BBB in hopes of recouping the $299 that they charged credit card.
