Type of a scam Tech Support

My computer was very slow and often would not boot up at all. I got a pop up on my computer screen indicating my computer and network were not protected with a number to call. The pop up looked like it was from Microsoft. Stupidly, I called the number and gave my credit card information and computer access to the scammer to load software and install a firewall on my computer. My computer seemed to work properly after my session with the scammer but after thinking about the encounter I began to suspect that it was a scam. I contacted my bank, credit card companies, the Federal Trade Commission and a credit monitoring service that I have. My bank is investigating the charge as fraudulent even though I initially authorized payment so I have not lost any money yet. The scammer put through two separate payments so that each payment was under $1500. So far, I have not lost any money but I am concerned about identity theft. I can’t believe I fell for this scam.
