Type of a scam Online Purchase
I was selling an IPhone X and "Hung Hai" messaged me on Facebook wanting to purchase it along with other phones I owned that had no use for. He claimed to be from seal beach and we ended meeting half way at Laguna Hills CA, 92653 near a local Starbucks. He purchased my phone and asked me if I accept Venmo , I said yes and he transferred the money (total of 2,680) in two different transactions. One for $190 the other for $2490. As I saw the transfer was done I handed the merchandise. I thought everything went smooth and a day later my Venmo account was blocked and the money removed from my account. Venmo claims to say it was an unauthorized transaction. I am currently in the process of filing a police report. I worn others to be careful with scammers like him and how the payment was received.
