They said I have a debt from Alderwood Manor, but I called and checked and I owed nothing – they never ever even use debt collectors for money owed. Definite scam.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

This debt collector continues to contact me stating that the ER doctor the night of my auto accident was an independent contractor and I owe him approximately $950. I stated they never sent me a bill. They said they sent it to the address on my drivers license. I stated that that address was a physical address (required by law) but I receive mail at a PO box (not allowed on a drivers license). They stated that the doctor will not send a second bill and required I give them further personal and insurance information. I said I will not do that without a bill or a Validation Notice (a written notice of the debt sent to me within 5 days of contact required by law). They refuse to send me a written notice and keep telling me to go online. It has been three weeks since the initial contact and they refuse to send me anything (bill or validation notice) in writing (I did provide my mailing address in my first communication with them) and kept saying that further issue will need to be taken if I do not cooperate. My medical insurance will pay 100% of my bills so this is not an issue of me not having the money but rather needing the appropriate documentation to have my insurance pay the bill, which they will not provide.
