Consumer reported that she received a call from a mortgage modification company called Homestead Financial Services, LLC.
The representative wanted her to wire $2000 to them in order to begin the loan modification process. The advance fee coupled with a relatively poor website and a disconnect between the services offered sent up red flags. Testimonials on the website (www.homesteadfi.com) referenced how this company was able to save people from foreclosure but the description of services references credit repair.
