Type of a scam Debt Collections
I received a message on my voicemail from someone identifying themselves from Homeland Security/ IRS, informing me that unless I returned the phone call immediately they will proceed with a warrant for my arrest. I returned the call and was told that I owed the IRS from 2012, 2013, and 2014. I informed the person that I didn’t owe the IRS anything and he kept telling me different, asking me "Did you defraud the IRS or was my non-payment an oversight?" I became a little loud and he told me to settle down because I was speaking to an "officer". I asked him for his name three times and he told me that since I wouldn’t answer his questions I was giving him authority to send the sheriff to my house. According to him I owed $1,678. The gentleman spoke with an accent.
