Type of a scam Employment
Responded to an ad for a work-at-home payroll asst. Someone claiming to be Randall *** from Harvard Companies in Texas contated me via email. Said the job pd $1800 per month for about 6 hours of work per week. Told I would receive a check for $1,400 in the mail. I was to take $1,000 and purchase a special printer and supplies from a specific vendor on ebay and I should keep $400 as an advance payment. I got suspicious when all they asked for was my name and address. No interview, no specific qualifications. Also, the emails were coming from [email protected] not Randall ***. When I received the check it did not look real. It was from a Ryan Caldwell and there was a note inside from a Mr. Marcos instructing me to call 320-500…. to get a code to cash the check. Nope will not do!! Called them out on the scam and they immediately fell silent.
