Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
They contact you from 2 different e-mails, pretending to be 2 different people.
The scam is they’re a "Model Agency" looking for a photographer. They e-mail you claiming they work for a popular magazine company, using someones name that actually works there. Then they get you in contact with the model agent, in this case it was William. They want you to scout out locations to do the photo shoot. You agree on location date and time.
The "Magazine Company" will send a check to the photographer who is supposed to disperse the money to the models and agent. The checked gets cashed but it takes 5 days to clear. They ask if you can send the money through paypal. Then they close the check bank account and the money gets taken out of you account. The e-mail address they wanted to money sent to was [email protected]
Fortunately I worked it out with paypal and was able to recover the money that was taken, but I wanted every photographer to be aware
