Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Advertising scam : came as s text message asking if I would like to make $500 a week extra by letting them wrap my car. 1st one was Mountain Dew& I ignored it. A couple of weeks ago, I got another txt msg advertising something else. I played along, bring “instantly” qualified, I got a check priority mail the next day for almost $5,000.00. I was supposed to call them when I got it. He called me, before I could contact him, wanting to know if I had gotten the check. I had contacted our local consumer reporter, Clark Howatd and he told me to rip the check to pieces – it was a scam. The check appeared to be drawn in a local bank, but after studying it, I realized the logo wasn’t right. I was supposed to deposit the check I knew that much but once t told him I had destroyed the check after talking wit a consumer adviser, I never heard from him again. He said his name is as Gregory Liam & he was the Instruction Manager for the Halo Top Creamery auto-wrap advertisement offer. It was really tough to tear up a check that large.
