I was contacted via email afterwards applying for a position through indeed.com. I was then called for a phone interview. The following day I received an email confirming that I was chosen for the position. I then looked up the interviewer and found that he’s an employment scammer.

I fell pray to this scam before. I was offered a Personal Assistant position for what I thought was a company called Meridex Systems from Canada moving to my city. It involved receiving a check, withdrawing funds and then transferring it to Bitcoin. At first, I thought it was part of the business, but really I got conned out of my money and I felt terrible afterwards. These people know how banks operate and use it their advantage. I received pretty the same job offer e-mail from a "company" called Hallmark Technologies. Their website even looks the same as Meridex Systems. This fake company will scam anyone thinking they will get a good job if they do what they say. Stay away.

After a careful consideration, I am honored to welcome you to Meridex Systems, to become our Assistant Office Manager (Fulltime/Permanent). I would like to reiterate from the previous e-mail that our company is expanding and opening a new office in the Downtown area. This office is where you will be stationed for work. We will be opening the new office in 3-4 weeks from now. Your required duties will be assigned before the official opening of the new office. Our objective at hand is for you to provide assistance as necessary in our transition. 13th of August 2018 the satellite office will be ready for business. The Finance department will be sending a check/cheque to you by mail to help with obtaining office supplies and stationery. A report is needed on or before 13th of August 2018 of all detailed assigned tasks.
