Type of a scam Tech Support
My computer locked up. A phone # was given to correct the situation with the inference that Microsoft had authorized them to fix this kind of problem. I , like an [censored], called the # and after $ to fix the problem and with a life-time "support" if this should happen again they would fix it for free, I let them into my computer (stupid). After about three hours and several installed programs they "fixed" the problem and unlocked my computer. I thought that was it. I kept receiving calls that people from Canada were trying to hack my computer and that they needed to again "fix" the problem. I refused their calls for several months and finally listened to one. For another $ plus they could fix this one. She said I had insurance that would cover the cost but that I would have to pay it up front and they would reimburse me. This time I wasn’t so dumb. I refused. I still get calls from them. They come from various States . I believe I’ve been scammed.
