Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
We received several phone calls yesterday to our local small business asking if we have a branch in California. Two callers stated that they had received checks from us amounting to thousands of dollars and wanted to know if it was legitimate.
The caller ID showed one caller with a Las Vegas, NV number and the other was a Billings, MT number. The check was not signed by the business owner and appeared to be out of Texas – which could not be us. We are currently waiting on more information from one of the callers after they go to their bank today.
