Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Grant Hiatt found our accredited business (Shaun McAnnally Painting – 903-343-7460) and texted him to paint a 3500+ sf house in Jacksonville TX; however, Hiatt is located in Orlando FL as best we can determine. Hiatt claimed to be in the military and would be getting out this summer and would be closing on this house soon thereafter. The realtor and owner of the house have no knowledge of this individual and don’t have a buyer currently. Location of the house is 407 Bonner St in Jacksonville, TX If the outside paint job went well, Hiatt wanted Shaun to also paint the interior. He sent Shaun a check for $6,120.00 written on Delta Community Credit Union (Check Free Corporation) (Atlanta, GA CU) and signed by Grant Hiatt (ck# 0000995028) (acct #6944409). However, until the check arrived, Shaun was under the impression his name was David (never used his last name) on the texts.
Sherwin Williams told Shaun there was another similar scam with another painter in the area.
