Type of a scam Travel/Vacations
Grand Discoveries Myrtle Beach office recently invited me to a presentation about vacationing. It was supposed to be 60 – 90 minutes long. When I arrived, they asked me to present ID and a valid credit card. The presentation started, and ended three hours later. I double checked my watch and was very surprised to see that three hours had indeed passed. I had great difficulty understanding what had happened. It was like I was trying to wake up from a bad dream, and I felt groggy. Apparently I had purchased their vacation package. I had great difficulty remembering anything that transpired over that three hours. I am not an impulsive individual and would never ever agree to purchase anything like this. Somehow, after that three hours which I can barely recall, I ended up purchasing a service that I paid $2500 for, do not want, will not use, and can not afford. It comes with no guarantee, no refund and no cancellation option. In addition, if I did want to use their service, I would have to pay an additional $89 per year plus $25 each time I use their service. To add insult to injury, on the way out the door, they gave me a “free trip” and a $50 Visa card. The trip is for a studio unit and must be used within 21 days. This is not possible for me to do since I have a job that will not permit me to leave with such short notice, especially after just taking a one week vacation. The Visa card comes with a $6 activation fee. I will not use either of these insulting “gifts” which are clearly meant to appease me following a very bad experience. I would like to cancel and receive a full refund. Nobody from their office will speak to me and messages have not been returned.
