Type of a scam Travel/Vacations
So far this year, 2015, I received several phone calls during early July from a Boston MA exchange – 617-356-4651 and six times thereafter on: July 27th, 2:33pm, Aug. 17th 11:19am, Aug. 19th 9:50am, Aug. 20th 1:17pm, Aug. 24th 4:56pm, Aug. 25th 3:03pm (per caller ID). The call starts out as recording that asks if can hear them which appears to activate a recording when I say ‘yes’. The call states I have won a cruise for several days, originating from Orlando. I usually hang up at that point. When I call 617-356-4651 back, I only reach a recording which states their voice mail inbox has yet been set up. This prevents me from asking them to stop calling me. Today, Aug. 25th, I remained on the call longer, which led me to a survey of 5-6 questions about healthcare. I hung up after that. Within a few minutes, I received a call from a live person, from 617-231-9323 – ID displayed Framingham, MA. The person informed me I had won a cruise. I asked him for name of the company he represented – it is Grand Bahama Cruises located in FL (yet caller ID displays MA location). I told him that I do not want any further calls and asked why I was getting these in the first place. He said because I had completed today’s survey, I got the second call. Furthermore, he said he has no control over the calls being made to my house. Since I have received about 10 calls from 617-356-4651 (even though our number is on the do not call list), the reason given (survey) seemed irrelevant.
