Type of a scam Travel/Vacations
There have been a text message chain being passed on around amongst middle aged citizens regarding a Carribean Cruise at the Symphony of the Seas to Miami and then to the Carribeans. The text chain originated from an individual that has been charged in the United States for fraud multiple times however, the cases have been dismissed due to a physician ruling the individual to be in a compromised mental state. The scam targeted my girlfriend’s mother who received information about this cruise with a group of her friends. The initial message claims that there was a presentation by a travel manager about a 11.5 days carribean cruise organized by The Global Tourism Culture Assiociation. They also claimed that the Mayor of *** has also attended this presentation and have provided his personal phone number to the organizer. This was also followed by a message asking for those interested in joining the cruise to deposit $1500 directly into a TD Bank Account as a deposit. We found it quite suspicious so we decided to look up the Global Tourism Culture Association and found that no such association exists. In addition, we searched the individual’s name that sent out the message and found the fraud charges in the United States.
