Type of a scam Online Purchase
My wife was told by our local DMV that our adoptive daughter needs her social security card in order to get her drivers license. We had not gotten her a new one with her adoptive name on it, and in her haste, my wife got online & filled out information on E-forms.us and paid a $38 fee in order to "expedite the request". We learned the next day by calling our local SSA office that this is a scam and were encouraged to contact the BBB to file a scam report. Just to be safe, we cancelled the debit card used & are trying to figure out how to put a scam alert on the SS #s used on the website. We are not sure if this is a true identity theft issue, or just a scam to get people to pay an unnecessary fee to a third party to do paperwork and filings you can just take to the SSA office to do for free.
