Type of a scam Phishing
Today, I began the process of renewing my registration for my vehicle on expresssos.com, the first site listed for express SOS redirects you to getregistration.org I thought that I was signing in to register my account, when I was actually purchasing an "assistant" to help with my registration process. After signing in, giving my information, and paying for the service, I was not given a receipt of payment, an option to log in/out, or any information about how much my account was charged. My husband and I thought they didn’t ask for my vehicle information, because we had renewed online the previous year.
I called the customer service line immediately, explained my dilemma, he explained to me what I was charged for and that there was a money back guarantee. I said, ok I would like to get a full refund. He proceeded to tell me that if after he "helped" guide me through the registration process, that I still wanted to cancel, that would be just fine, but that he is a professional and this is what he does everyday. I said "No, I do not need help with my registration. Your website was very misleading and I unfortunately, signed up for something I do not need. Please send a refund immediately."
He then offered me a $100 gift card that would be emailed to me that I could use at places like restaurants, movies, or even to buy shoes. I again said I am not interested. Please just refund our account.
He then told me that of the $23.95, we would be refunded $19.99 – the processing fee is non refundable.
I am extremely displeased and feel very frustrated that there is a site so similar.
