Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was sent a letter in the mail by a "company" calling itself "Actionable Intelligence Delivery" that sent me a "check" for $2,250. I was instructed to sent a text to that number to "activate" the check, then go to the nearest Best Buy, buy 4 $500 gift cards, then sent the codes on the back to the phone number. This almost got me, seeing as how I had applied to be a mystery shopper awhile back, but the fact that my small town lacks a Best Buy is what made me realize that this was fishy. A quick internet search proved me to be correct. Thankfully I was not suckered into this scam, but I want to post this as a warning to others that live in more populated areas.
