Person offered a place to rent in Anchorage Alaska, claiming to be the owner of property. I looked into the property and discovered the actual owner lives in Anchorage. There are a few other listings like this that are from different states that I have seen. Now I know not to buy into out-of-state deals.
It became more obvious that I was being scammed. The dealer needed his transaction processed by his "lawyer" who lived in north Carolina. He said he did not have PayPal which seemed intentional and raised my suspicion. Eventually I spoke to a local estate agent who told me no one was renting at the address , that the housing was to be teared down when it was sold.
I brought all my concerns to the dealer and he simply brushed it off saying he can provide proof of land ownership. All of it was a scam – too good to be true.
