Type of a scam Tech Support
I wanted to get help from Amazon Re setting up an Echo and from the amazon site[I thought was legitimate]. The site asked for my telephone
number and they at first claim they were amazon help. He took over my computer and said that the Alexa app wouldn’t down load because of a problem in my computer. He said that he installed a security program on my router and "fixed" my computer, This was over the course of several hours. I was able to use the Echo after that. Then he wanted money $209 for the fix and one years service" The way he talked about the money made me realized that this was a scam and then he became abusive over the phone when I refused to give him my credit card and bank information. I said I would mail a check, but I was fearful of that too, so I sent him cash since I did get my Echo working finally.
Later I reached Amazon learned that this was indeed a scam as they never charge for their help
