Type of a scam Credit Cards
I received an email stating that my account would be automatically debited $499.00. This was alarming to me because this account with the actual Geek Squad was closed inside the Best Buy Store over 5 years ago. The 1st Rep I spoke to was named Ben. He had difficulty speaking English so he transferred my call to what he says was his Supervisor.
A man came on the line and told me his name was Bryan Smith. I asked him for his ID #. He provided me with the following ID #: 007322. I then asked him for what company did he work for. He replied, Geek Squad. I asked him of his Geek Squad Location. He told me New York City. I then proceeded to ask him for his work #. He gave me the following TN #: 937-963-0527. I asked him to hold on the line and he did. I muted him and then called this # from my home telephone. He answered the line with, "hello"???? This isn’t the normal automated greeting you would get from a business. I told Brian, that I have reason to believe this is a fraudulent business. I asked him again, "where do you work?" He then responded, " The Federal Trade Commission." I told him I will be reporting both this email and this call as fraudulent. He then disconnected the line.
I am very concerned that he has my personal credit/debit card information and is trying to obtain money by my card illegally.
Please help!
