Type of a scam Tech Support
On 2/6/16 approximately 1pm central time; I was looking to re-new MagicJack and the website, freehelpnsupport.com came up and inadvertently, I called the number 1-800-777-0770 and spoke to ‘Annie Williams’ (she and the other fake-support agent both had accents from India) and was given pricing info; told the website was down, etc. I was also given 1-800-987-7740. I did not realize they were not associated with Magic Jack and gave my phone number and passcode but did not give any bank account information. I checked back by calling the number again and then searched on-line and got the correct Magic Jack company; they took care of the issue by confirming that the previous people I spoke with were not affiliated with Magic Jack; I resubmitted an alternate e-mail address and new password. When I called ‘Annie Williams’ back to make her aware that they will be reported, of course she hung up.It is un-nerving that how closely scammers mimic the real companies and it’s obvious I must use better judgement and be more careful.
