Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I applied for an opportunity to make money by displaying an orange juice magnet on the side of my car. I waited for a response as to the details and I started getting texts about a check that I had received. In fact, I had not received a check, nor any further instructions on when and how I would get this advertising magnet, so I just wrote it off as a fluke. Then, I went into my leasing office at my apartment complex to pick up a different package and they told me that I had this too. I opened it and a check for $2600 was written out to me. Of course, my red flags went up when I realized this was the check they were referring to. I tossed it aside and was going to mail it back to the sender, but they were going to charge me $17 to return it. Only now am I reporting this because I am shredding old mail and came across it and plan on shredding it, but I did want other consumers to be aware. Thank God, I didn’t fall for it and deposit it into my account because it just screams scam to me.
I hope this helps others.
