Call was a recording telling me that it was FirstEnergy calling to confirm my electric shutoff scheduled for today and that if I did not schedule this shutoff press 1. After pressing 1 I was connected to an individual who asked for my account number. I did not provide it because i did not have it. The individual then asked if I was the account holder at my address. He read off my actual address to me. He then stated that I had a past due amount on my account and that they had sent me a shutoff notice 30 days ago. He gave me the amount that was past due, which was the actual amount due on my account. When I asked how I could remedy the situation and prevent shutoff he put my on hold while he claimed he would be attempting to get in touch with the service workers who would be arriving at my home to shut off my electric. When he returned to the call he stated that workers would be there in 30-35 minutes to shut off the electric but that I could go to an authorized payment location to send a payment. The more I thought about this the more fishy it sounded. I hung up and called FirstEnergy, who confirmed that there was no shut off scheduled for my account.
