Type of a scam Government Grant
My friend, a 34 yr old unemployed single female with thousands of dollars of debt, applied online for drawings for scholarship grants (and the like) at ***, ***, and ***. After a week or so, she received a phone call from (202) 922-7074 who asked verification of my friend’s name, her area code, and marriage and employment statuses. My friend was told she had been selected by a drawing to receive a free government grant of $9,000 and could claim it by calling (202) 681-3903 and use the grant ID of wp77a. She did so, and was told she needed to go to a money transfer point and “register” with the Federal Union Bank there with a $200 fee. She was told to bring a cell phone with her and to call the (202) 681-3903 number asking for Marco William 121 for instructions. But before going to Western Union I talked my friend into checking with your website and after reading about government grant scams we decided to post this report instead.
